The Health professions council has issued the following press statement:

The Health Professions Council (HPC) has today published its conclusions from a public consultation on the potential statutory regulation of psychotherapists and counsellors for the Secretary of State for Health.

The consultation ran for a three month period and incorporated recommendations made by the Psychotherapists and Counsellors Professional Liaison Group (PLG) and the HPC Council.

UKCP Belfast Regional Event

The UK Council for Psychotherapy will be holding a regional event in Belfast on Saturday 13th February 2010.  The event will take place at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall and provides an opportunity for local practitioners to meet some of the UKCP Officers, to share experiences of practising in the area, and to contribute to developing UKCP as a professional membership organisation.  For more information about regional events, click here.

BACP has published a new review that considers the research available for the use of counselling and psychotherapy in the prevention of suicide, and aims to provide researchers and practitioners with a broader review of the evidence than has been considered by previous publications within this arena.
