Supervision opportunity for LGBT therapists

Are you a professional counsellor, psychotherapist or psychologist?  Do you identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, non-heterosexual, or trans?

If so, you are invited to attend the first meeting of an LGBT Peer Supervision Group starting in Belfast at the end of October.

The Peer Supervision Group aims to provide counsellors and psychotherapists with a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental environment where individuals may learn from each other and develop new or different points of view., and share experiences, opinions or professional knowledge.  It also aims to further their understanding of themselves as clinicians, of the clients with whom they work, and/or of service delivery in general.

Unlike group supervision where supervisees meet with a designated supervisor, this new group for LGBT practitioners will be peer-led where all participants are of equal status and have responsibility for deciding the roles and functions of the group and the way in which it is structured.

Various modalities, techniques and philosophies of counselling are welcomed.

This first meeting will take place on:

DATE: Saturday 31st October 2009
TIME: 10am – 1pm
VENUE: The Rainbow Project, Belfast (1st Floor, 9-13 Waring Street, Belfast, BT1 2DX).
PURPOSE: To identify the role and function of the group and to draw up an initial contract.

In order to maximise participation, the venue will rotate on a regular basis to accommodate those from outside Belfast/rural communities.

If you are interested in becoming involved in this group or would like further information, please contact Terry Sergeant (terrysergeant@yahoo.co.uk) or telephone: 07743 528 404.  You can also join the mailing list at LGBTherapists@yahoogroups.com
