Understanding human suicidal behaviour

Phillip O’Keeffe PhD is scheduled to present two suicidology courses at QUB Open Learning Programme (School of Education) in Belfast:

INTRODUCTION TO SUICIDOLOGY – Fri 30th Sept 2011 – 20 weekly sessions (10am – 12 noon) – each session 2 hours; and

SUICIDOLOGY – FURTHER STUDIES – Thu 29th Sept 2011 – 10 weekly sessions (7pm – 9pm) – each session 2 hours.

Belfast Cognitive Therapy Centre – Information Seminar

The Belfast Cognitive Therapy Centre will be holding an information seminar on Thursday 28th April 2011 for the Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Therapy.

A 90-minute PowerPoint presentation, outlining elements of the BCTC Diploma, Cognitive Therapy and career opportunities in Cognitive Therapy is delivered. Seminars are relaxed and informal and refreshments are available. Staff and present and former BCTC trainees meet with seminarians for informal discussion about the Diploma. A fee of £20 is payable.

School of Education, Queen’s University Belfast ‘Open Day’

Over 40 pathways will be showcased at an Open Day at Queen’s School of Education
Thursday 19 May, 12.00pm – 7.00pm

Hosted by the School of Education, a key education leader in the UK and Ireland, the Open Day at Queen’s School of Education on Thursday 19 May will present an array of undergraduate and postgraduate courses across a wide range of areas, from initial teacher education (PGCE); Masters and PhD programmes; Management and Human Resources, to Community Development and Counselling.

Workshop: Overview of Mental Disorders

Zest for Life Counselling Services are holding a CPD workshop entitled ‘Overview of Mental Disorders’ on 26-27th November 2010 at Bridge Street, Banbridge.

The programme includes information on depression, generalised anxiety disorder, psychosis, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, PTSD, acute stress disorder, panic disorder, schizophrenia, agoraphobia, and phobias.

The two days will total 12 hours of CPD and discounts are available for student therapists and groups of 3 or more.

Professional Programme in Couple Counselling – Relate Northern Ireland

The University of Ulster and Relate NI are planning to offer individuals the opportunity to undertake an innovative new therapy training course entitled “Professional Programme in Couple Counselling”, with Relate NI providing the required clinical practice placement.
