Change in direction in the government’s approach to regulation

The UK Government has issued a command paper, ’Enabling excellence: autonomy and accountability for healthcare workers, social workers and social care workers’ (Cm 8008), which signals a change in direction in its approach to the regulation of counselling and psychotherapy.  In short, the command paper indicates that:

UKCP launches its professional occupational standards

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), the principal professional body for the UK psychotherapeutic community, has produced the first definitive suite of professional occupational standards in the delivery of psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic counselling.

UKCP Belfast Regional Event

The UK Council for Psychotherapy will be holding a regional event in Belfast on Saturday 13th February 2010.  The event will take place at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall and provides an opportunity for local practitioners to meet some of the UKCP Officers, to share experiences of practising in the area, and to contribute to developing UKCP as a professional membership organisation.  For more information about regional events, click here.
